The right system comes down to the dose form you package, the volume you run, and the environment you are packaging in. Solids, liquids, and syringes each use a different machine, so the dose form is where the choice begins.

Oral Solid Packaging

Tablets and capsules sealed into unit dose strip pouches, each labeled with a scannable barcode. The Auto-Print Plus fits any packaging volume & workflow, from standalone hospital pharmacies to high-volume central fill pharmacies. Featuring adjustable speeds between 50 – 80 packages per minute in a compact footprint of only 2.5” square feet of countertop space needed.

Oral Liquid Packaging

Measured, labeled, and sealed liquid doses in cup form. The Fluidose Series 6 packages liquid into unit dose cups at a rate of up to 23 doses/min and is an ideal fit for hospital pharmacies and low-volume stability testing or clinical trial runs. The FD-Pharma is the next step up for higher production volume, packaging at a rate of up to 35 doses/min. Both systems accommodate four different cup sizes (7mL, 15mL, 25 mL, 35mL) with a variety of color options available for color-coding and quick identification.

Syringe Labeling and Overwrapping

For syringes, vials, and ampoules. The Auto-Wrap labels oral and injectable syringes from a half milliliter to 60mL at up to 30 per minute. The PABS bags parenteral medications at up to 35 sealed, barcoded bags per minute. The PALP prints thermal labels for vials, ampoules, and syringes when a full bagging line is more than the task calls for.

Barcode Labeling Software

Every MPI system runs on Pak-EDGE UD Barcode Labeling Software, so the machine and the software are a single decision. Pak-EDGE offers an easy-to-use central packaging interface, featuring a drug library, automated data entry tools, a label designer, custom workflow setup including verification steps, and exportable packaging reports that are saved indefinitely within the software.

How to Choose

✔ Dose form: match the machine to solids, liquids, or syringes first

Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment do I need to package unit dose medications?

It depends on the dose form. Oral solids run on an Auto-Print system, oral liquids run on the Fluidose Series 6 or FD-Pharma, and syringes use the Auto-Wrap labeler, PALP label printer, or PABS bagging system. All equipment comes accompanied by Pak-EDGE barcode labeling software and MPI-certified materials.

Does MPI packaging equipment include labeling software?

Yes. A Pak-EDGE UD Barcode Labeling Software license comes with every new MPI packaging system. The software is used to build a drug library, design and send labels to the machines, with a variety of features such as customizable workflows, verification steps, exportable reporting, and more.
