Fluidose® Series 6: Liquid Unit Dose Packaging Solution
The Fluidose® Series 6 Unit Dose Packaging System by MPI is an advanced, automated solution for packaging oral liquid medication. With its built-in syringe pump mechanism and barcoding capabilities, this liquid packaging system helps pharmacies reduce packaging costs, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize medication errors.
How it Works: Liquid Packaging Solution
The Fluidose® Series 6 features an integrated syringe pump mechanism that automates the filling, sealing, and barcoding of oral liquid product doses. This filling machine produces up to 22 doses per minute, adaptable to different fill rates and viscosities. The 7” color touchscreen provides easy navigation for setting parameters such as volume, seal temperature, and pump speed during the liquid packaging process.
Multi-layered composition of the consumable materials, combined with our controlled sealing process and dwell time, assures that a safe, sealed, tamper-proof unit dose package is created each time, and it is easy to open when it is time to administer the medication, with no degradation to the oral liquid medication.
Optimal Compliance
MPI’s Fluidose® Series 6 was developed with both the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory compliance in mind, meeting the strictest standards for aseptic packaging and patient safety.
- FDA-Registered Materials: MPI-certified consumables are FDA-registered for drug packaging and meet Class A standards for moisture and light protection, ensuring medication stability and integrity for the liquid content.
- Joint Commission Compliance: The Fluidose® Series 6 adheres to The Joint Commission’s strict regulations for safe dispensing of oral liquid medication.
- Technical Guidelines and Quality Control: Rigorous quality control measures are in place throughout the manufacturing process to ensure consistent adherence to industry standards.
- UL Compliance: The Fluidose Series 6 is UL compliant, further affirming its safety and quality for use in healthcare settings.
- Beyond-Use Date (BUD): Supports a one-year beyond-use date (BUD) or matches the original expiration date of the product, whichever is shorter, for safe and compliant medication repackaging.
Cost Effective Automation
Automating the packaging of bulk liquid medications into unit doses with the Fluidose® Series 6 offers significant cost savings compared to purchasing pre-packaged doses making it an economical choice for healthcare facilities needing flexible packaging solutions. With a low cost per dose (CPD), this system provides an economical solution for healthcare facilities seeking efficient in-house repackaging without compromising quality.
Versatile Packaging Options
Designed to accommodate diverse medication needs, the Fluidose® Series 6 offers four cup sizes (7ml, 15ml, 25ml, and 35ml) and multiple color options, such as blue, red, yellow, and amber, for easy identification. This flexibility allows for color-coded organization of controlled or refrigerated medication in the liquid packaging market, enhancing both safety and workflow.
Enhanced Error Prevention
The system includes advanced barcoding capabilities (linear, 2D, and GS1) and supports Tall-Man lettering, which helps distinguish look-alike/sound-alike medications. By scanning the bulk container before packaging, the Fluidose® Series 6 adds an additional layer of verification, ensuring that the correct medication is packaged each time.
Thermal transfer printing technology, proprietary to MPI’s Fluidose Series 6 packaging system, is utilized to print barcode and medication information directly on the Fluidose-LIDDING® to assist in error prevention and compliance for repackaging of medication.
User-Friendly Design
With no tools required to switch between cup sizes and automatic low-fluid detection, the Fluidose® Series 6 minimizes downtime and simplifies the repackaging process. The machine pauses automatically when fluid levels reach a preset limit, ensuring accurate dose filling without interruption.
Barcode Verifier Option: Add-On
The optional barcode verifier automatically scans each package as a final check after the packaging of the unit dose container is completed to ensure that the barcode can be accurately scanned at the bedside. If an unreadable barcode is detected, the system will pause to allow the user to retry or remove the package from production.
